Meet Rachele
Hi! I'm the owner of Obstacle Fitness. My name is pronounced like Rachel (not Rachelle). Obstacle Fitness combines my love for obstacle course races with my dream to have my own business. When I was laid off from my corporate job in 2018, I was unemployed for the first time in decades. I had gone to Babson College for my MBA and I had always dreamed about having my own business but I'd never had my "ah-ha" moment.
In June 2018 I visited an obstacle course gym and the spark was lit. When I told my husband Aaron I had a crazy idea to start a company he was incredibly supportive. The rest is history!
When I'm not running Obstacle Fitness I love hanging out with my family, which includes Aaron, my two daughters, two dogs (pictured here, Scrappy is on the left, Rosie is on the right) and our two cats (Zorro and Buttercup, not pictured). I also run Recycle Health, a non-profit dedicated to redistributing still-functioning activity trackers and smart watches to underserved populations.
I love watching reality TV, working on puzzles, supporting women's sports (especially NWSL), hanging out with my friends (as long as I'm back home by 7 pm) and playing games on my phone.

Obstacle Fitness' Evolution
Obstacle Fitness was officially launched in July 2019. It looks a lot different now than it did at the start. After visiting an obstacle course gym in 2018, I became a certified Spartan SGX coach with the goal of training people for obstacle course races and offering team-building and offsite events for companies and organizations. From the beginning, the mission was simple: bring the experience directly to the customer—whether that’s a corporate office or a backyard.
Then COVID-19 hit, my original audience vanished overnight. I pivoted to working with kids at a time when large events weren’t happening, but the need for movement and outdoor play had never been greater. One silver lining of that period? People got outside in all kinds of weather. Some of my favorite memories from that time are of obstacle parties in the snow.
The post-COVID version of Obstacle Fitness has grown into the diverse, flexible programming you see today. We may not be outside year-round anymore, but we still bring the fun wherever it’s needed. I’m always dreaming up new ideas and looking for new audiences. Got something in mind? Reach out—I’d love to hear it.

My Programming Approach
Obstacle Fitness is all about fun, movement, and building confidence. Whether you're a kid, teen, or adult, my goal is to help people surprise themselves—especially when they do something they didn’t think they could. If you or your group loves a challenge, I can create a program that pushes limits. But I care more about effort and discovery than competition or speed. That look of “I can’t believe I just did that!” will always mean more to me than a stopwatch.
I bring that same mindset into how I design every session. Along with an MBA, I also hold a Master’s in Health Communication, where I focused on behavior change. No matter someone’s age or ability, I believe in meeting people where they are and creating space for growth, joy, and trying something new.
