What's the Process for Working with Obstacle Fitness?

Updated: Mar 19, 2020

I see you...you're reading these posts, maybe you keep visiting a race site to consider your first race. You might be wondering--if you reach out to Obstacle Fitness, what happens next? It's pretty simple: we have a conversation. We can do this on the phone, although we'd love to do it in person if we can. We'll talk about things like:

  1. Is this your first race? What is motivating you to run your first OCR? If it's not your first OCR, what went well and what were some challenges?

  2. What's your current fitness level? Getting a baseline will help in assessing your improvement.

  3. What are your goals? What are you hoping to get out of either training or completing the race? It doesn't have to be fitness related--it could be, "have fun" or "prove something to myself."

  4. What motivates you? What kind of training do you respond to? Do you like stations where you do an exercise for a set amount of time or do you prefer reps?

  5. How do you want to be held accountable? Depending on what your goals are, there's going to be a level of accountability. Again, everyone is different and we can talk this through a bit.

From there, we make a plan and get you started. So what are you waiting for?

By the way, if you want a recommendation on a first race and you're in the New England area, I highly recommend MuckFest on May 16. I wish I could do this myself, but it's the same weekend as the Spartan Sprint. Which, incidentally, you're welcome to run with us! Just follow the instructions for joining a team and look for "Obstacle Fitness". We'd love you to run with us!
